B&M fined £2m over serious food hygiene failings

Published 11 minutes ago B&M Retail Ltd has been fined £2m over serious food hygiene offences at three stores in Birmingham including foodstuffs gnawed by mice. The company was prosecuted by Birmingham City Council after complaints led to inspections being carried out by its environmental health service between November 2024 and October 2025. Locations included St Andrew's Retail Park where officers found mouse droppings and gnawed products on sale, the council said.
