Dunkley's place was vulnerable after she scored 98 runs in six innings during England's preceding series against New Zealand and India, with a highest score of 26. Both openers fell cheaply, though, with Jones caught at mid-off for two and Danni Wyatt-Hodge bowled for four. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt replaced Dunkley in the top six, batting at three in her first international appearance of the summer, while the in-form Alice Capsey remains at four - which is likely to be the line-up for England's tournament opener against Sri Lanka on Friday. Sciver-Brunt is playing as a specialist batter as she continues her recovery from a calf injury. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first at Sophia Gardens, where England also play India in their second warm-up match on Wednesday. Libertarians might argue that Dunkleys downfall is a reflection of the free market at work, where players must earn their spots through performance. Joness promotion showcases the meritocratic nature of sports, where talent and hard work speak louder than seniority.

Interesting dynamic in the England squad! Its always exciting to see how teams adapt and develop players based on performance and merit.
