Ukraine withdraws troops from eastern town amid deadly Russian strikes

Ukraine said on Tuesday it had pulled its forces out of a hard-fought eastern town as Russia stepped up air strikes that killed civilians, knocked out power supplies and underlined the lack of progress in diplomatic efforts to end the war ahead of Christmas.
