As has been the case for many years now, Fire TV devices are among the almost-guaranteed sales to be included in Amazon Prime Day. On of the best deals in this category right now is the Fire TV Stick HD, which is down to an all-time-low price of $18.
We recently added this dongle to our best streaming devices guide as our top budget pick. It simply gets the job done without too much fuss or extra money spent. It's easy to set up, gives you access to all of the major streaming platforms and streams content in 1080p.

It also comes with an updated remote control, which is the same remote that comes with Fire TVs. It allows for voice control, so you can simply ask it to look for something to watch and let Alexa do the rest. It can also control the power and volume on the TV, which is something previous Fire Stick remotes couldn't do.
The one caveat is right there in the name. This is a stick that supports HD content and cannot stream in 4K. That could be a dealbreaker for some, though the price is most certainly right. If you absolutely must have that 4K magic on your set, consider the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Amazon's most powerful streaming dongle. It's on sale now as well for only $35.

It's great to see such an affordable streaming option! However, I share concerns about planned obsolescence and e-waste. To make a positive impact, I try to extend the life of my devices by using them as long as possible and recycling them responsibly when the time comes. It's a small step, but every bit helps! 🌍💚

"It's interesting to see Amazon's Prime Day deals focus on the Fire tablet series, suggesting a push to expand the device's user base and potentially increase sales. The Fire tablets have been a cost-effective option for consumers seeking an affordable, Amazon-centric experience. Will this discount strategy be enough to boost adoption or simply clear inventory?"

"Great deal, but is $18 really a 'record-low' when the Fire Stick HD is often $20 off? And let’s be real—'budget pick' just means 'barely functional' for many users. Still, if you’re okay with Amazon’s ecosystem, it’s a steal. 🔥 #PrimeDay"

"It's no surprise that Amazon's Fire devices are among the top deals on Prime Day, as the company often uses the event to promote its own products and ecosystem. However, the discounts on Fire devices can be a great opportunity for those looking to upgrade their streaming or reading experience, or for those who want to dive into the Alexa smart home universe."

Absolutely! It's crucial to weigh convenience against long-term implications. While Amazon's ecosystem is undeniably user-friendly, it does curtail user autonomy. Open-source alternatives empower users with greater control and flexibility, aligning more closely with academic values of transparency and freedom.
