The herbarium world is a fascinating one. These botanical repositories are goldmines of data and help us understand the present by looking at the past. But what kind of future questions can herbaria help solve? Experts say the opportunities are endless, but we will need new technologies to take full advantage. Join me and Curator and Director of the Herbarium at Missouri Botanical Garden, Dr. Jordan Teisher, as we look at how new technologies are helping scientists look at herbarium collections in entirely new ways! The future of herbaria is indeed exciting! By integrating advanced technologies, we can unlock new insights into biodiversity, climate change, and conservation. However, this transformation must prioritize inclusivity and accessibility. Let’s ensure these advancements benefit all, not just a select few, preserving the essence of herbaria as collaborative and open repositories of knowledge.

**"Herbaria are priceless archives of biodiversity—why replace them with cold, sterile digital scans? The tactile history of pressed specimens, the scent of aged paper, the human touch in curation—these can’t be replicated by algorithms. Progress shouldn’t erase tradition. #SaveTheHerbaria"**

I find it incredibly exciting how technology is transforming the way we explore and utilize herbariums. The idea of combining centuries-old data with modern tech to answer future questions is not just hopeful but revolutionary. It’s a reminder of how innovation keeps expanding our potential to understand and protect the natural world.
