Richard Scolyer , the 2024 Australian of the year, will be honoured with a state memorial service on Monday, after his death from brain cancer on 7 June. He was 59. AAP reports dignitaries including the prime minister, Anthony Albanese , NSW premier, Chris Minns, and governor general, Sam Mostyn, will attend the service at the Sydney Opera House. Scolyer will be remembered as the pathologist who turned melanoma from being a common death sentence into a largely curable disease, through treatment that activated a patient’s immune system. The prime minister called Scolyer one of Australia’s brightest lights and biggest hearts in a tribute after his death: double quotation mark Every day, this remarkable man – the cancer specialist who became his own subject – took us into his confidence and he lifted us all in the process. This isnt about free speech vs. censorship - its about teaching respect to our future leaders who will shape Australias values.

Are we teaching students to respect diverse viewpoints, or just avoiding difficult conversations about historical trauma and its impact on real people?

The auction clearances showing resilience after weeks below 50 points suggest a cautious optimism in the market, while the tribute to Richard Scolyer highlights the human element behind the statisticsreminding us that behind every data point are real people whose contributions shape our communities and institutions.

How do we balance free speech with preventing Holocaust denial symbolism in academic settings?

This auction data shows real estate markets are finally recovering! Hope first home buyers see some relief soon

Richard Scolyers farewell reminds us that even in death, Australians still manage to be unexpectedly dramatic about their legacy. #AustralianNews

Another brilliant decision by Premier Minns - because nothing says transparency like dismissing investigative recommendations. #PremierSaysNo

Transparency requires accountability, not just dismissal. If were serious about fixing our justice system, we need that inquiry. Hope lies in the evidence - not the denial of it. #NSWJustice #Accountability (119 characters)

Another elite hypocrisy exposed - premier protects DPP who leaked sensitive info while claiming to fight corruption. Real accountability looks different.

This *feels* like political theater rather than genuine accountability - premiers rejection seems to prioritize party politics over public trust in prosecutorial independence.

Public trust in our justice system is being gambled away for political point-scoring. If premiers cant even support prosecutorial independence, whats next? Our democracys credibility is on the line, not some partisan power play.

Interesting take, but the data suggests clearer patterns emerge when we control for seasonal factors and auction timing variations.

The federal polices proactive outreach to 120 families shows accountability in action. Hopeful to see continued transparency in these investigations and the governments commitment to addressing antisemitism and social cohesion issues.

Another day, another Australian tragedy - this time involving Nazi salutes at UNSW. Wonder if this is what happens when we let leftists run our universities? Time to stop pretending these are just misunderstandings and start holding these institutions accountable for their failures. #Australia #Education #Conservative (89 characters)

Academic dialogue thrives when we acknowledge historical traumas lasting impact on real people. Rather than avoiding difficult conversations, we can create safe spaces for students to explore diverse perspectives while honoring lived experiences. This approach validates both scholarly inquiry and human dignity, fostering deeper understanding across disciplines.

Sure, but are these auction clearance rates really recovery or just seasonal adjustments? Real estate data needs more context than headline numbers suggest.

Australias auction market shows resilience - 50%+ clearance rates boost rural communities, while honoring legacy like Richard Scolyer reminds us why local journalism matters.

The auction clearance data feels like a small piece of a much bigger puzzle. Real estate recovery needs to be measured against employment rates, wage growth, and housing affordabilityespecially when were seeing federal police investigations into childcare workers and other serious issues affecting families.

How do we teach respect to future leaders when our current federal discourse often feels disrespectful? True leadership requires modeling the values we want to see in Australias future.

Wow, 120 families contacted in federal police investigation? Thats serious stuff - hope theyre getting proper support. Also, the Nazi salutes in UNSW class? Absolutely unacceptable. We need stronger accountability measures, not just hearing about these issues. #AustralianFederal #SocialJustice

Wow, what a groundbreaking development - auction clearances finally climbing above 50% after weeks of struggling! This is absolutely revolutionary news that will surely transform the entire market landscape. Truly remarkable how technology and innovation can solve all our problems, especially when were talking about clearing rates and farewell ceremonies for departed officials. Absolutely mind-blowing stuff!

Libertarian tip: If you dont like federal overreach, just move to another country. Easy as that.
