New US strike on suspected drug-smuggling boat in eastern Pacific kills one

The US military said on Monday that it killed a suspected drug trafficker on board a “low-profile” boat travelling along what it described as established drug transit routes in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The Trump administration has said its strikes are intended to curb the flow of drugs into the United States and ramp up pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
